Renewable Energy at The Old Nurseries We operate a hybrid renewable energy system to provide electricity for the house. This consists of a small wind generator and photovoltaic panels which feed in to a 24v battery pack for storage. The 24v dc current is then converted by an inverter to 240v ac. (See technical details below). This provides all the lighting in the house and some of the power. The equipment was purchased from Northwest Energy Storage http://www.nwes.com in the United States The house is heated by a bale-burning furnace which was made locally.
